Biotech Crops Rule!

In last week’s update of 2007 planted acreage, USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) reported that U.S. farmers planted a record number of acres of biotech crops in 2007.

This year, U.S. farmers planted 67.8 million acres of biotech corn, a significant 42% increase over 2006. Biotech corn varieties accounted for 73% of the entire U.S. corn acreage in 2007.

Additionally, this spring, 91% of the soybeans planted in the United States were biotech varieties. In 2006, 89% of soybeans grown in this country were biotech varieties.
